Update of PG 32 Released
The German National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV) has decided to update product group 32 ‘Therapeutic movement equipment’ and officially announced this on 26 June 2025. These changes affect the care of patients with neuromuscular and movement-related functional impairments and have a direct impact on the listing, prescription and classification of therapeutic movement equipment in the German Medical Technical Aids Register (HMV).

What Exactly is Being Changed?
The Update contains among others the following changes:
- New subcategories for scooter boards (for children) and accessories for such
- Fitness and training equipment clearly excluded from HMV-listing
- No testing required if use in a clinic or rehabilitation facility is proven
- User manual must now also be available in simplified language
- Stricter requirements for materials and maintenance-free reuse
The update is made in accordance with Section 139 of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V), which requires the German Medical Technical Aids Register (HMV) to be continuously adapted to medical progress.
