Updates of Multiple Product Groups (PG) Confirmed!
The GKV-Spitzenverband has decided on several significant updates: The updates to product groups 06 ‘Radiation equipment’, 15 ‘Incontinence aids’, 52 ‘Care aids for a more independent lifestyle’ and 99 ‘Miscellaneous’ were announced in the list of aids.
Furthermore, manufacturers, patient associations and service providers were asked to comment on the upcoming changes to product groups 07 “Blind aids” and 23 “Orthoses”.
These updates offer an important opportunity for manufacturers and consumer organisations to actively influence the adaptation of the list.
Confirmed Updates
PG 06 – Radiation Equipment
Adjustment of the quality requirements for UV light combs. Introduction of a billing item for repair and maintenance work. Clarification of the requirements for product labeling, operating instructions and introductory documentation.
PG 15 – Incontinence Aids
Extension of quality requirements for fixation pants, urinal systems and catheters. New billing items for accessories and consumables. More specific requirements for materials, safety and functionality.
PG 52 – Care Aids for Independent Living
Revision of requirements for emergency and assistance systems. Extended safety standards for home emergency call systems, in particular radio ranges and integration of fall sensors. New requirements for data protection and data security. Introduction of new billing items for accessories and installation materials.
PG 99 – Miscellaneous
Extension by new product sub-groups: head protection systems, lice and nit combs, training software, jaw muscle trainers, erection rings, vacuum erection systems, vaginal trainers and protective rings for nipples. Clarification of the quality requirements, in particular with regard to safety, material properties and functional suitability. Introduction of new requirements for product labeling, instructions for use and instructional documentation. No invitation to comment included.
Initiated Updates
PG 07 – Aids for the Blind
Update initiated, comments procedure opened. Focus on updating requirements for tactile orientation aids, electronic assistance systems and their functionality.
Deadline for comments: 07.04.2025
PG 23 – Orthetics
Revision of the quality criteria for orthoses, in particular with regard to stabilisation, movement control and material requirements. Comments procedure opened.
Deadline for comments: 04.04.2025
