The update includes the review and, if necessary, the revision of the definition, the product subgroups as well as the product types including the indications.
The Assistive products- and nursing aids directory is divided into a total of 45 product groups. The homecare products that are listed there have an easier time being reimbursed by health insurance companies. To have a product listed there, an application must be submitted to the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds in Germany (GKV-Spitzenverband) zu stellen und die gestellten Anforderungen zu belegen.
The GKV-Spitzenverband updated the following product groups in the first half of 2022:
- PG 33 Toileting aids was adopted in the new version and on 06 July 2022 made public
- PG 34 Hair replacement was adopted in the new version and on 31 May 2022 made public
- PG 29 Stoma articles was adopted in the new version and on 01 April 2022 made public
- PG 04 Bathing and showering aids was adopted in the new version and on 11 March 2022 made public
- PG 54 Care aids intended for consumption was adopted in the new version and on 11 March 2022 made public
- PG 13 Hearing aids was adopted in the new version and on 09. Februar 2022 made public
The following updates are planned and the comment process has been initiated by the GKV-Spitzenverband:
- PG 05 Bandages with statement by authorised groups until 30 August 2022
- PG 01 Suction devices with statement by authorised groups until 26 August 2022
It is important to keep an eye on updates, both for new applications and for existing listings. Updates can be used, for example, to reassess the chances of success of paused applications or to start them in the first place.
If your products are already listed, you must pay appropriate attention to the updates in the list of medical aids and the associated requests from the GKV-Spitzenverband to update the documentation
Please note that, anyone who does not react to the change in requirements of various kinds will experience the listed products being removed from the list of medical aids. Difficulties with the reimbursement of costs are then almost inevitable.
Contact us, we will be happy to discuss your situation and advise you on the appropriate course of action.
