The product groups are an essential element of the list of aids (Hilfsmittelverzeichnis, HMV). This directory, compiled by the German National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds accordance with § 139 of the German Social Code, Book V, lists the medical aids that are covered by the obligation to pay benefits of the health and long-term care insurance funds. It is divided into 38 different product groups according to the respective therapeutic objective. The list of nursing aids (Pflegehilfsmittelverzeichnis, PHMV) includes four further product groups.
In the directory hierarchy, is the product group is followed by the place of use, the subgroup and finally the product type under which your aid can be listed individually. The listing only takes place after a successful application procedure. Within the scope of the application procedure, the fulfilment of the CE requirements on the one hand and the fulfilment of the requirements according to § 139 SGB V on the other hand have to be proven in writing.
Requirements that may be imposed on you in addition to your CE documentation vary depending on the type of product. Some of them are medical or technical reports, others are information in the instructions for use or special requirements for the design and equipment of the medical device.
