The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV) has confirmed the update of four product groups (PGs): The lists of PG 13 (Hearing Aids), PG 25 (Visual Aids), PG 26 (Seat Aids), and PG 54 (Care Aids for Consumption) will be updated.
In this short article, we inform you about four significant updates to the List of Medical Aids by the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV). In some cases, you can take advantage of the opportunity to provide comments offered by the GKV-SV. Please note the different deadlines, which expire by early October 2024.
PG 13 – Hearing Aids
The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV) is updating the product group of hearing aids. The update of the product group (only available in german language) was published on June 17, 2024, following changes in the Hearing Aids Standards. The changes include:
- New norms and standards: Introduction of new performance and technology standards for hearing aids to align with the current state of technology and international standards.
- Adjustment and care: Stricter requirements for the individual fitting of hearing aids and an increased focus on the quality of care and follow-up by hearing care professionals.
- Integration of modern technologies: Inclusion of new technologies such as Bluetooth, rechargeable batteries, and digital remote fitting solutions in the list of reimbursable products.

PG 25 – Visual Aids
- The GKV-Spitzenverband wants to revise the list of approved visual aids. A draft has been drawn up for this, manufacturers and patient representatives can comment on this by October 9, 2024.
PG 26 - Seating Aids
- The product group 26 “Seating Aids” is also set to be updated. The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV) invites manufacturers and patient representatives to submit comments on the planned update by October 1, 2024.
PG 54 - Care Aids Intended for Consumption
- The National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (GKV-SV) also plans to update the list of Care Aids Intended for Consumption. A draft has been prepared, and patient representatives and manufacturers can provide feedback on it until October 8, 2024.
